Which hair tools are going to go big this Black Friday?

Hair tools have some of the highest price points when it comes to buying home beauty items, along with other electrical items like microcurrent devices, LED masks and hair removal devices.

I remember when buying a pair of old-school ghd’s seemed like breaking the bank at £80(ish), and now some of the most popular hair tools are retailing at around £500. FYI, my 16 year old, £80 ghd’s are still going strong! But I do also have a Dyson Air Wrap that I was kindly given as a gift and again, a ghd hair dryer that’s at least 10 years old.

This price point makes them a prime target for Black Friday discounting and Christmas gifting, so let’s take a look at what global monthly search trends are looking like as we head towards 29 November 2024:

Some fun search facts about haircare tools

Searches for a lot of these items peak between November and January. The last few years the Dyson AirWrap has had as much as 5 million global searches every December. Social and influencer content also ties in with these Google searches in a huge way.

FYI there’s a big difference in search volumes between “hairdryer” and “hair dryer” across brands and things like “FlexStyle” and “flex style” make a big difference too, so this is definitely something to take into account when you’re writing product descriptions and landing pages.

A lot of these search terms are low competition too. A lot of the search terms above also have significant search volumes for the name of the tool with “dupe” at the end too. This just goes to prove the point about them being items people want to cut a deal on.

Also there are 80k global searches each month for “Dyson Hair Wrap” which is apparently a fairly common mistake people make with the name of the tool on the listhat has the most searches. Somebody trademark that ASAP (kidding, Dyson will probably sue you).
